How To Keep Your Immune System From Crashing When Exercising
Exercise too hard too frequently and your immune system will come crashing down. After all, too much stress in the form of exercise will prevent your immune system from regenerating.
On the other hand, if you don’t exercise within your natural limits you won’t get results.
So here is how to make sure your immune system doesn’t crash from exercise and diet:
1. Block mental stress: Your body can only handle so many stresses at once. And if you pile a bunch of mental stress on top of your exercise stress, bad things are going to happen. You see, negative emotional states have a direct impact on your immune system.
2. Keep your diet as balanced as possible: A lack of balance in your diet is a rapid-fire way to destroy your immune system’s performance. Not only will eliminating food groups decrease your exercise capacity and recovery, but it will also keep your immunity forever suppressed.
3. Don’t skimp on sleep: Sleep is the most restorative and regenerative time period for the human body. If you aren’t getting high quality sleep every single system in your body will suffer, including your immune system. So make sure your sleep is at least seven hours without interruption.
4. Don’t lose weight too quickly: The faster the weight loss the higher the risk for developing complications. Not only do you run the risk of losing precious calorie-burning muscle, but you also run the risk for suppressing immune system function.
5. Don’t be afraid of carbs: Without carbs in your diet will never be able to recovery properly from exercise. So make sure you don’t take them out of your diet. Specifically, make sure you have ample carbs before and after exercise to minimize the impact of stress hormones.
6. Don’t train through sickness: If you are feeling exhausted or if you are presenting mild sickness symptoms, do not train. This is your body’s way of telling you to stop. And if you keep on pushing forward your immune system will crash.
Keeping you immune system strong when exercising is a great way to stay on board your fitness program without interruption. So take action here sooner rather than later, because later usually never comes!
