Q&A: What is the distinction between a nutrition key and a health research significant?

January 15th, 2012

Question by Pancakes: What’s the difference between a nutrition major and a health studies major?
Hi! I am currently incredibly unhappy with the university I am attending now. And I am currently majoring a nutrition at a university that has an accredited program. I really really hate this school, so I’m thinking of transferring to another school closer to home, but it doesn’t offer nutrition, only health studies. Would this be a bad move? What is the difference between nutrition and health studies?

Answer by Eric
I am sorry you are so unhappy at your current university.

To answer your question, it really depends on what you hope to do with your degree when you graduate.

A nutrition degree often emphasizes basic chemistry, and biology, as well as food science courses. A nutrition major may be well prepared for a career as a registered dietitian.

A health studies major often is geared towards those that want to go into health communications, or health management. Think: somebody who wants to work in a hospital or healthcare setting, but is not a healthcare provider (i.e. doctor, nurse), but rather an administrator or health policy designer.

So it is really up to you, but I would advise you to figure out how a change in degree might impact your career plans.

Eric

Bring a Pal & Get Free of charge Boot Camp Exercises at a Local Chicago Health club

December 29th, 2011

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 28, 2011

The annual ?New Year?s Resolution? survey conducted by FC Organizational Products LLC found that the top four resolutions were: to become more physically fit, to improve one?s financial condition, to improve health, and to lose weight. This year, Chi-Town Boot Camps makes it easy to join a Chicago personal training gym with their referral bonuses. Boot camp program participants receive a free month of boot camp for every friend, family member, or colleague they refer.

?I want people to be so excited about the results they see at our Chicago gym that they become our walking, talking billboards,? explains Boot Camp Owner Craig Kastning. ?I don?t mind giving away the program for free to people who are serious about achieving their fitness goals,? he adds. ?After all, my mission is to get Chicago off Men?s Health Magazine?s ?fattest cities? list, so I need as many people on board as possible.?

The fitness boot camp program is the most popular offering at the Chi-Towns Boot Camp Chicago gym because it melts off pounds of fat, replacing it with lean muscle mass, with noticeable results within a month. The most dramatic results usually come after three or four months sticking with the nutrition and exercise program, when people lose 25 to 45 pounds. Some boot camp participants have dedicated a year of their lives to fitness and lost an astounding 100 pounds!

The Chicago gym features a challenging workout, but participants admit that it is ?surprisingly fun.? In addition to jump-squats, lunges and push-ups, they?re also balancing on Bosu balls, running through obstacle courses, and using hula-hoops. The hour-long fitness program fluctuates between periods of high intensity, followed by periods of recovery ? a technique known as ?interval training,? which studies show is most effective at fat burning.

Chi-Town Boot Camps Chicago weight loss gym also has a certified nutritionist on staff. This professional meets with all new members to discuss goal-setting and outline a fully customized monthly meal plan that emphasizes whole grains, lean protein, fruit and vegetables, and low-fat dairy. Individuals with gluten, diabetes or cardiovascular concerns are encouraged to ask the nutritionist any questions they may have about managing their conditions.

Chi-Town Boot Camps are located on Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights, on

Question by laura p: How important is nutrition to teens? And does the prospect of health problems later in life matter now?
Not many people know a lot about good nutrition. And I mean really know. Most teens aren’t even required to take a basic nutrition class in school. However, nutrition is the one thing in life that affects your whole life. Good or bad nutrition habits can affect your emotions, your your physical features including your skin, hair and bodyshape, and even how you treat others. Your nutrition habits will also have major effects on your health now and in the future. So how important is nutrition in your life?

Best answer:

Answer by TITANIUM
Nutrition is hugely important in my life. Fresh fruit and veges and leane red meat. Lots of fish and turkey for protein. My body is a temple and I need to treat it right to keep my insides healthy. I also try to eat food witha high water content, water melons and so on. Fresh and natural is the key to a good inside. But if there is more I need to know please let me know.

I hope I answered you question You can tell how unhealthy you are by your bowel movements and its consitance( I know gross) but its true. As a 28 year old it is a high priority to keep in peak physical fitness. Although not a teen I still consider ymself as excited and energetic as a teen. Due to good nutrition of course:)
