April 28th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
well, he is rite actually. if u wanna no more about that type of lifestyle, look up the words ju hoansi, this was a tribe/band that lived off the land and basically ate mostly mongongo nuts, fruit, and some meat, and NO breads

Some metabolic typing companies use a battery of established blood and urine tests performed by reputable laboratories, but interpret the results in an unconventional and medically questionable fashion. During a 1985 investigation into one such firm, an investigator sent 2 separate samples of blood and urine for analysis; he received 2 drastically different “metabolic typing” reports and dietary plans. Both plans involved the purchase of dietary supplements costing several dollars per day.

One crucial thing you are forgetting: today’s world is nothing like the world as it was when our ancestors emerged. Back then, there was plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and insects to eat from. Considering humans were forming groups of 30-40 individuals, hunting would be actually pretty hard. Animals were also hanging in groups, and a fight could cause unaffordable casualties. Actually, the meat they were getting was from animals already dead. F&V were definitely the easy and safe way to go.

have you ever tried living out in the forest, fixing your own food? see if you can cover 80 % of your food intake by eating fruits, nuts and vegetables. probably not. if you want a lot of food and a descent meal, you need to catch something bigger. an animal. you wont find enough vegetables to cover your need. our ancestors ate a whole shitload of fat. most of the food came from animals.

I am talking about the evolutionary point of view. Paleonutritionist Geoff Bond argues that fruits and vegetables composed 80% of human nutrition before agriculture and that the rest (20%) includes all kinds of meat, insects, etc… Also, even if they eat a lot of animal fat, it is IMPOSSIBLE to be healthy without having fruits and vegetables as the biggest part of our diet, the rest can be meat, chicken, fish, whatever you want…

fruits and veggies are a great source of nutrients. however we did not eat as much fruit and vegetables as we ate animals. i recommend you check out some of the research of weston a. price, a man who traveled around the world for 8 years examining the healthiest societies/tribes in the world. even though their diet varied differently from place to place, he found that they all had certain things in common: they all ate a LOT of animal fat. and those who ate the most were the healthiest.

Fruits ARE available 24/7! There are A LOT of different kinds of fruits, and they are all scattered throughout the year! Ex: Berries grow during the late winter and magos in April/June. Same for veggies! Moreover, tens or hundreds of years ago, before the industrial revolution that polluted our planet and killed hundreds of species of plants and animals, there were plenty of fruits and veggies growing around! All you had to do is go out and pick them up!

Fiber is so overrated I cannot believe it myself. What about the people in the cold climates? Fruits and veggis? Good luck. Where do you draw your line? Because claiming fruits and vegetables are essential is easily provable false. Granted they are wonderful for you and make it easier to get in all your nutrients, but no one has a biological need to eat them. Do your reasearch and you will find out that fresh meat, fat, and organ meats contain all the essential nutrients.

Sorry but fruits are not available 24/7 in nature. You might get some 5-12 weeks a year but thats it. I’d imagine the other 40-47 weeks we’d all died out from scurvy, right? Sorry, but their are still people living today on diets lacking fruit and vegetables yet show no signs of defiencies. We absolutely had fruits and veggies in the past but they are not essential. Or else the eskimos would not be doing too well. Neither would the massai tribes of africa. Recheck your facts.

Also, fruits and veggies are not only a mere source of carbohydrates. They contain all the minerals and vitamins our body absolutely needs that meat and fat does NOT contain. I can argue on and on. The fact is, our ancestors had a diet based on 80% of fruits and veggies, and 20% others including meat, eggs, insects, etc…
My opinion on Sean: he knows a lot of stuff, but he also got a lot of stuff wrong! The only guy I trust is Geoff Bond.
I’m open to all discussions, so I don’t mind a reply

6) stimulate production of T helper cells, antibodies, leukocytes, cytokines and lymph mechanisms having crucial roles in immune protection
7) improve barrier properties of the colonic mucosal layer, inhibiting inflammatory and adhesion irritants, contributing to immune functions
All this is for SOLUBLE fibers only, the “good” fibers, which come from FRUITS and VEGGIES. In cereals, you find INSOLUBLE fibers which are not that good for you.

2) stimulate gene expression of glucose transporters in the intestinal mucosa, regulating glucose absorption
3) provide nourishment of colonocytes, particularly by the SCFA butyrate
4) suppress cholesterol synthesis by the liver and reduce blood levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides responsible for atherosclerosis
5) lower colonic pH (i.e., raises the acidity level in the colon) which protects the lining from formation of colonic polyps and increases absorption of dietary minerals

I’ll tell you why we can’t break down the fibers in fruits: because WE NEED THEM. I don’t have enough space to explain the whole thing (it’s complex), but soluble fibers get fermented and produce short chain fatty acids which are involved in numerous physiological processes promoting health, including: 1)stabilize blood glucose levels by acting on pancreatic insulin release and liver control of glycogen breakdown.

Although metabolic typing diets have been promoted to patients with cancer, the American Cancer Society states that:
There is no convincing clinical evidence that supports the claims made for metabolic therapy or any of its components. Some aspects of metabolic therapy may in fact be harmful.[4]

you make absolutely no sense. if were supposed to eat plenty of vegetables, why can’t we digest the sugars in them at all? Last time i checked, all vegetarian animals CAN digest cellulose. and fructose in the fruits do NOT pass into the blood stream but only the liver thus the body cant use much of it.
if were supposed to eat nothing but fruits and vegetables, we should be adapted to digest and utilize the energy in them efficiently. WE CANT. use your brain. evolution isn’t a joke lol.

Red herrings………….all you did was give me a few examples. irrelevant. i think we’d both agree that the science proves tobacco to cause all types of health problems yet many people do not get sick at all. just because i could give u a few people that aren’t sick who smoke for 30 years doesnt mean tobacco is ok. Anyone can lift a weight but i seriously doubt your strong. You might be fine now but wait down the line. your fat deprived body will speak back to you with plenty of illness.
April 28th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
where did he say you shouldnt eat meat? there are many ways to get energy and protein from fruit and veg. his information is actually very accurate.
April 28th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Your information is seriously flawed.
I lift weights and I only eat fruits and vegetables. I never had any problems. Also, Brendan Brazier is an Ironman triathlete and he is also a raw vegan. Apparently, fruits is a good source of energy for us. Also, Carl Lewis is a vegan and he is a world class athlete. Your science is junk science. You need an update.
